You’ll only get as much out of your workout as you invest into it, and after a while, it can become difficult to put as much into it as you used to. Sooner or later we all get bored and we all plateau. When you do, you and your fitness goals suffer.

But you and your fitness goals don’t have to suffer. All you have to do is make it fun again and you will find the motivation to succeed. Here are two quick tips how:

Change your routine

There is something comforting about doing the same thing at the gym day-in, day-out. But comfort doesn’t help you achieve your fitness goals–change does. So change it up. Think outside the box. Don’t be afraid to do things differently. Ride the bike instead of the treadmill. Do the rowing machine instead of the bike. Throw in two extra exercises. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the the change in your body.

New experiences are the lifeblood of success and the key to a fulfilling life, so don’t be afraid to try something new. If you’re bored with the same old, same old, do an exercise activity that you wouldn’t ordinarily do. It will reinvigorate you and your workout.

Invite a friend

One of the best ways to find the motivation to succeed is to invite a friend to workout with you. First of all, nobody likes to be shown up by a friend. Secondly, your friend will be nothing but a positive influence on you. And finally, it will make your workout much more fun and chances are you friend will be grateful for the motivation as well.

Remember: Workouts are supposed to be fun. Unless you’re a world-class athlete or getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to push your body to the limit, you’re supposed to be working out for fun and fitness — so do it.
